After the supper, Jesus prays in the garden of olive trees while his friends sleep. An angel comes from heaven and holds him close.

The Resurrection of Christ

The Resurrection
Jesus steps out of the tomb and looks straight at us, while the soldiers sleep. This fresco was saved during the Second World War by a British officer who held his fire.

The Resurrection

About These Coloring Pages
Are these Easter coloring pages free?
Yes. Every page can be downloaded on its own, and the whole booklet as a PDF, without giving an email. Print as many copies as you need for your family, your parish or your Sunday school class.
Are they religious Easter coloring pages?
Yes, no bunnies and no eggs here. Every page tells a moment of the Easter story from the Gospels, from Jesus entering Jerusalem on Palm Sunday to Thomas meeting the risen Lord, drawn after a famous painting.
What age are they for?
The drawings were simplified from the paintings for children, roughly ages 5 to 12. The easiest are the El Greco, the Fra Angelico Noli me tangere and the Giotto pages; older children and adults enjoy the more detailed ones, like the Tintoretto, the Rubens or the Caravaggio arrest.
Are the Good Friday pages too sad for young children?
They are gentle: no wounds are shown in detail, and the booklet tells each scene simply, always pointing to the joy of Easter morning. You can also start with the Palm Sunday and Easter Sunday pages, and add the others as your child grows.
How should I print them?
Choose US Letter or A4, print on one side of the paper so markers do not bleed through, and print the painting pages in color if you can: they are the color guide.
Do you have something for Lent too?
Yes: a free Lenten calendar with forty paintings, one for each day, and the Stations of the Cross in a printable booklet.
Free for personal use, for your family, your parish, or catechism class. Please share the page, not the files re-hosted elsewhere. It helps others find them.
