In this Crucifixion, Christ is depicted at the center of the composition, nailed to the cross beneath the darkened sky of Golgotha. To His right stand the Virgin Mary in her sorrowful blue mantle and Saint John the Evangelist, hands clasped in prayer. At the foot of the cross, Mary Magdalene clings to the wood in grief, embodying both penitence and devotion.

On the opposite side, Roman soldiers cast lots for Christ’s garments, echoing the Gospel narrative. Their muscular bodies, dynamic gestures, and the commanding officer in golden armor reflect Baroque drama and realism.
