Cubism, born with Picasso and Braque around 1907-1908, taught painters to break the single fixed viewpoint of classical art into simultaneous facets – to show a subject from many angles at once. Applied to sacred art, that fracturing became a theological tool: the Crucifixion could be seen from every side at once, its suffering, its glory and its cosmic reach folded into one geometric icon.

Twentieth-century masters seized the possibility. Salvador Dali stacked eight cubes into a hypercube for his Crucifixion (Corpus Hypercubus) in 1954, and Marc Chagall wrapped his White Crucifixion (1938) in shards of prayer and pogrom. This canvas continues that modern devotional tradition as an original composition painted in-house for Jesus Christ Pictures by our resident artist Heathcliff de Clairvaux, giving contemporary Christian homes a Crucifixion that speaks the visual language of their own time.
